#100DAYPROJECT
I grew up drawing and through high school I was the kid who spent most of the day in the art room, avoiding assholes and boring classes that I didn’t care about. I didn’t particularly love art. I just saw it as something I was good at. In college, I started to actually enjoy it and attended my still life and figure drawing classes excited to draw. I’ve admittedly not drawn much in over a decade. Call it lack of motivation, lack of desire, lack of time or just simply life. Through this project, I chose a simple prompt that I hoped would spark some joy in the talent I once had and perhaps still do.
I’m super proud of myself for completing #The100DayProject. There were some days I forgot to draw, but I drew 100 different objects. Technically I drew 101 things, but I later found out I drew 2 water bottles, so there you go. I want to continue the work and finish filling up the sketchbook I started with this project. It will become only the 2nd fully completed sketchbook I’ve done.
THINGS I LEARNED
I wasn’t excited to draw every day, but I still did it. And I’m glad I did.
I can’t draw a loofa to save my life.
I didn’t put any pressure on myself to draw something “perfect.”
I loved playing with the composition on each spread. My publishing and editorial background is very much a part of me and the work I create.
I’m very happy with what I created.
